Stack’s Chicken and Waffles.
So I’ve been to Stack in Hayes Valley a handful of times and was surprised that they FINALLY served Chicken and Waffles.
…to be disappointed that they simply put their chicken tenders on top of their waffles. They are LUCKY that their waffles are DELICIOUSLY buttermilky and crispy.
They served the chicken with maple syrup and gravy which made it pretty good. I smoothered the chicken and waffles with maple syurp first and then dipped my chicken in the gravy with every bit.
My advice for Stacks, cmon’ lets spice it up a bit and be creative please.
I recommend giving your customers real chicken (instead of your chicken tenders) and put it on top of your famous bacon waffle!
Thats all.

Dear Soul Groove,
Thank you for making the 49er game at The Independent soo much better. Your BBQ/maple syrup sauce was to die for. I was up on the balcony above your pop up and smelled maple syrup throughout the entire game, it was spectacular. I had to order a second round of your waffle sandwiches before I left.
Love,

I highly recommend trying Soul Groove’s Chicken Waffle Sandwich if you are ever are in the mission!
A guest reviewer- Thanks Tracey!
So a frequent place I visit is Gussie’s chicken and Waffles in the Fillmore area! I absolutely love this place’s signature dish of ‘Red Velvet Waffles’! It tastes so good that syrup isn’t even needed to enjoy this treat! They have a special cream cheese butter that is absolutely delish! I swear, every visit that I make here I HAVE to get at least ONE red velvet waffle! This venue is a cute restaurant, located in Fillmore’s area, with a very Ma & Pop feel yet still trendy. The servers are friendly but at times move very slowly. It’s hard to get mad seeing as how nice they always are but be prepared to receive your appetizers at the same time as your main dish. I’m not too much a fan of this venue’s regular waffles; partially because their syrup is very watered down thus affecting the yumminess of the waffle. I love their fried chicken though: crispy in all the right places and cooked well done. Not only is this a chicken and waffle house, it is also a soul food restaurant! Their Mac and cheese, collard greens, candid yams, cornbread, and catfish are ALL delish!
I truly recommend this place if you are ever in the area:
